Snuffel Hostel, een plek waar iedereen welkom is

Luisteren naar Brugse jongeren, ze kansen bieden en een ontmoetingsplek vormen tussen locals en gasten uit het hostel. Dat is onze missie, ons doel en onze visie.

At Snuffel Hostel, we are aware of the impact we have on the environment. The entire team strives to do our best to minimize this impact. We want to integrate sustainability into all aspects of our business operations, such as energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, purchasing policy, etc.

Greenkey

Green Key is the first quality label that promotes sustainable travel, meetings, and relaxation. Snuffel Hostel is a Green Key label holder. We ensure that we can contribute to a socially and ecologically just society. In this way, Snuffel Hostel ensures that our ecological footprint remains systematically low. Greenkey gives us a number of targets and areas for improvement that we can work towards, such as waste reduction and awareness raising.

  • When you order coffee at Snuffel Hostel, everything is served plastic-free. We make sure that the cookies, milk, and sugar are stored in bulk behind our bar. This way, we no longer use separate packaging.
  • Snuffel Hostel is a welcoming place. In our bar, you can treat someone who is struggling to a deferred coffee. A voucher will then be available on our notice board. This lowers the threshold for asking. For others, this can mean a big gift. 'Hartelijke Plekken' (Warm Places) is an initiative of Enchanté vzw. There are 12 other locations in Bruges that participate. More information can be found at www.enchantevzw.be
  • We recycle our waste in the guest kitchen.

Local & fairtrade products

At Snuffel Hostel, we embrace local communities and support fair trade. From our breakfast to the amenities we offer, we strive to make sustainable choices that benefit our guests and our planet.

  • Eggs and fruit come from Boer Bas, a collective of organic farmers who have joined forces to bring you the best from organic fields, udders, barns, and pastures.
  • Our various jams are made by Duin & Polder, a small residential and working community that provides support to people in various areas of life.
  • Honey comes from Withouck Beekeeping, located 20 km from Snuffel Hostel.
  • Our coffee and tea come from Oxfam. They build and support a movement that amplifies the voices of farmers, women, and workers in policy-making. This ensures they receive fair wages.
  • Our range of different types of bread comes from a bakery in the center of Bruges, Sint Paulus.

Green energy

Our hostel has solar panels. This is better for the environment because solar panels generate sustainable energy without harmful emissions. This reduces our ecological footprint and contributes to a cleaner future.

Sensibility guests

At Snuffel Hostel, we are committed to sustainability, and we strive to involve our guests in this important mission. Our recycling bins are accompanied by playful slogans that encourage both tourists and staff to actively participate in recycling. In addition, our hostel has an Eco-sheet with useful tips for a more sustainable stay, encouraging small but impactful changes. Guests can always refill their water bottles at the bar.

In our restrooms, you will find Safe Space stickers that convey a clear message: at Snuffel Hostel, we do not tolerate discrimination, and we strive to create an inclusive environment for all our guests. Booking.com highlights Proud Certified accommodations with a Travel Proud badge. Snuffel Hostel has been awarded one. These accommodation partners are committed to providing an extra warm welcome to everyone.
